I’m bushed.
We cooked for, and fed, an army of St. Patrick’s Day revelers who came together to raise money for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
At $10 per person for a meal of corned beef and cabbage and Irish stew, we collected almost a thousand dollars… but I don’t think we had a hundred people there. I’ve a feeling some people simply bought the tickets to help the cause.
After an hour of Irish music performed by Cumming, Georgia’s best pretty good band – known to all as Nostalgia – we held an auction. John Spencer, in his debut dramatic role as an auctioneer, did a marvelous job and added another eighteen hundred dollars to the fund.
We’ll continue to do things to raise money between now and the May 15th event, but we already know whatever amount we finally collect will be supplemented by $800 from Thrivent for Lutherans.
All in all, it was a very successful day!
I’m bushed.
