Can’t Trust That Day

Those of you who were around in 1966 (or are avid fans of Oldies radio stations) will recognize that the title of this post refers to Monday. Here in Cumming, Georgia, Monday is starting off a bit overcast… or maybe I just got up before the sun.

In any case, now that I’ve mentioned the song, the least I can do is include a video of the Mamas & Papas performing the song.

In truth, it would be easy for me to turn this blog into a trip down memory lane. I sing with a group called Nostalgia and many of the essays I’ve written over the years recall fond memories of my past. I’m one of those people who seem to wind up with nothing beyond fond memories. I believe it’s called ’selective’ memory. I tend to push the bad times aside.

I’ve added another 400 Edition article and encourage you to read yesterday’s post, think of a good clean joke, and pass it along by using the ‘comments’ link. Thank you kindly.

Do you have any info. on the M&P 1982 tour?

There is an album titled “Live at the Savoy 1982, Sold Out” from that tour, record Label: Rykodisc USA, released: 2004.

I believe Spanky McFarlane is on that album. I’d like to know more about it, personnel etc. And I’d like to get photos from the tour.

Of course I’m an M&P fan. It seems to me they’ve been somewhat forgotten. For me they were one of the few groups that still amaze. Their version of Twist and Shout is stunning. I think their version is much better than the Beatles despite the roller-rink organ filler (must have been Lou Adler’s idea). John Philips had this nack for getting everything out of song.
